ACE Practice Tests: These quizzes from Houghton Mifflin are terrific practice for any middle schooler.

Aesop's Fables: A fantastic collection of fables.  Some have been developed into Flash movies.

Book Report Sandwich:  Here's a great way to gather all the ingredients you'll need to write a tasty book report. With each sandwich layer, you'll enter a different piece of important information. Once you've made a sandwich, creating your book report will be a snap!  From Scholastic.

Digital Library (Children): Tons of books, both new and classics.  Entire texts are included so some books take a while to download.

Houghton Mifflin Paragraph Practice: A comprehensive list of web links for various skills needed to write good paragraphs.

Rapid Cite: Plug in the reference you used, and this site will give you the correct citation for your research papers.  How easy is that?

Skillwise (BBC):  This site contains fact sheets, activities, games, and quizzes (all together as part of a cohesive lesson plan).  The two best areas are grammar and reading.  Because this site is created by the BBC (British Broadcast Network), the spelling is non-standard American.  However, the site is worth a look because the games are really high quality learning environments.

Spell BeeSpellBEE is a new kind of spelling activity. Each time you play, you will be able to choose a partner and play a word game with them. It's fun! You can even call up a friend and play Spellbee with them!
